Among the elementary measures… to further the cultural revolution are the following; the schools, colleges and universities will be coordinated… The studies will be revolutionized, being cleansed of religious, patriotic and other features of the bourgeois ideology. The students will be taught on the basis of Marxian dialectical materialism, internationalism and the general ethics of… Socialist society. Present obsolete methods of teaching will be superseded by a scientific pedagogy.
– William Z. Foster, 1932 –
The most critical step in reversing the decline in the country’s social and political discourse is to focus on the breeding grounds of progressive socialist ideology: the American school system. The Fabians understood that education lies at the core of social development, which is why they chose Harvard University in 1888 as the launching pad for introducing the gradualist approach to achieving transformative social change in America. Since then, critical theory and critical pedagogy have become cornerstones of legal and educational theory in the country’s higher education institutions. The trickle-down effect has led to a broken legal system, and public schools are more concerned with progressive social causes than academic achievement.
We must never forget the Jim Crow era laws that made it illegal in the Democratic South to teach Black children to read or write. The reasoning behind this arcane law was that it would be much harder to control an educated Black population than an ignorant one. When we consider that 70%-80% of high school graduates cannot read, write, or do math at the 7th-grade level and dropout rates as high as 80% in urban schools with large minority student populations in Democrat-controlled districts, we have to ask ourselves – what is different from the Jim Crow education laws of old and our failing education system now? The obvious answer is nothing.
Ideological education has supplanted core educational studies that would do more to prepare children for gainful employment and higher education opportunities and lift them out of the cycle of generational property than ideological indoctrination. We must never forget that all children in America are America’s children. Regardless of race, color, creed, or gender, the country’s future lies within them. If we are ever to halt the miseducation of our children, we all need to get involved in the public school education processes, regardless of whether or not we have school-age children. To not take action to halt this madness is to relegate our country’s children to ignorance and make them susceptible to a social ideology that has done more to suppress freedom than allow all to succeed and achieve whatever they choose to pursue.
